Hip hop's most intimidating man, Freddie Foxx reportedly got into some fisticuffs with a drunk fan/entourage member at a show at SOB's in NYC recently, where he took the man's weapon, punched him in the head and left him bleeding. "That Was An Unfortunate Incident That Happened At SOB's Last Night. I didn't want it to go there. I hope he is ok." That's pretty G. [Twitter]

Comedian Sarah Silverman weighed in on NBC's recent drama with Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno. "I just thought it was a real scumbag move of NBC," Silverman told MTV. "They should not be allowed to call themselves the NBC family. That should be their punishment." Conan rules. [MTV]

Your girl Donatella Versace had some jewels about being natural recently. "I don't even know what my natural colour is. Natural? What is natural? What is that? I do not believe in totally natural for women. For me, natural has something to do with vegetables." She's not wrong, she's just not right. [HuffingtonPost]
Beyonce and Russell Crowe to Star in Remake of 1930s Film

Beyonce and Russell Crowe

According to the Los Angeles Times' 24 Frames blog, Beyonce could be teaming up with 'Gladiator' star Russell Crowe for the remake of the 1937 flick 'A Star Is Born.' The movie, which originally starred Janet Gaynor and Fredic March, has already been reworked a few times with Judy Garland (1954) and Barbra Streisand (1976) reprising the role of singer/actress Esther.

So far, Nick Cassavettes ('The Notebook,' 'Alpha Dog' ) has been tapped to direct the film which is rumored to feature appearances by Alicia Keys and Rihanna. It's unclear what sort of spin Cassavettes and screenwriter Will Fetters will attempt for the new version of 'A Star Is Born,' but as mentioned by 24 Frames, a Crowe/Beyonce pairing would serve as the follow-up to the most notable onscreen interracial romance since Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston's love affair in 'The Bodyguard.'

There's no word on when production on the new millenium 'A Star Is Born' will begin. In the meantime, Crowe fans can see the 45-year-old actor in Ridley Scott's 'Robin Hood,' alongside Cate Blanchett, in May.
Detectives Say Lil Wayne Will be Treated Differently in Prison

Lil Wayne Tomorrow, (Feb. 9) is the big day that Lil Wayne finally heads off to prison, and although the Young Money all-star doesn't sound too choked up about it externally, the rest of us are at least a little curious about what a prison stretch looks like for a high profile rapper. In this month's issue of Rolling Stone, the New Orleans native explained that he wasn't interested in wasting much time talking about the upcoming bid, instead he just wanted to get it started and get it over with. "This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody I can talk to can tell me what that's like," he said. "I just say I'm looking forward to it."

For the rest of us, however, retired NYPD detective Derrick Parker has tried to paint a picture of Weezy's upcoming life behind bars. Parker told MTV News that while officials would try to maintain some semblance of normalcy in the intended Rikers Island facility, Wayne would be treated differently from the average prisoner."Lil Wayne is gonna be OK," Parker told MTV News. "While he's in jail, it's a matter of fact they may not put him with the general population because of who he is and his popularity. They might lock him down and let him come out with a supervisor and stuff like that [when he's] in the main area - but he's definitely going to be treated differently."

Drake Heading Out on Eco-Friendly Campus Tour

DrakeYoung Money Entertainment artist Drake has announced that he will be partnering up with the environmental non-profit, Reverb, for his first ever headlining solo tour. The 25-date campus jaunt -- titled the Away From Home Tour -- will also feature Canadian rapper K-OS and the New York City based band Francis & the Lights.

In an effort to off-set his carbon footprint, Drake plans to use bio-diesel fuel in his tour bus, as well as biodegradable and recycled products backstage. Environmental and other socially-conscious groups will be allowed to setup booths in the tour's "Eco-Village."

The Away From Home Tour kicks off on April 6 at Eastern Illinois University and will end on May 8 in Plymouth, New Hampshire at a private location. The outing -- also dubbed the Campus Conscious Tour -- will mark the first time Drake performs shows without his Young Money family. In related news, Drake's mentor and close friend Lil Wayne is less than 24 hours away from the start of his expected year-long prison term. His Young Money Entertainment staff plans to relocate to New York City while Wayne serves his time incarcerated at Rikers Island.
Gucci Mane Checks in From Prison, Talks Sobriety

Gucci Mane seems to have gained a relatively clear head while in prison. In a recent interview, the incarcerated rapper talked about a wide range of issues including the reception of 'The State Vs. Radric Davis' and his association with drugs.

To start, Gucci cleared up rumors that cocaine usage was partially responsible for a failed test landing him back in prison. "My urinalysis was from, like, six months ago," he told XXL. "I think it was for marijuana. But it definitely wasn't from cocaine. I have never used cocaine. That's just not true. Then I stopped smoking and stopped drinking. For the last six months, I haven't used any drugs, and I will continue to claim sobriety."

As for serving another stint behind bars, Gucci is remaining optimistic and seems genuinely blessed by his recent fame and the public's attention to his record. "I put my record label together; my new situation with Warner went well," he reflected. "I built a lot of anticipation, I worked hard in those eight months, and I'm pleased with the recognition I'm getting. I'm at the height of my career so far. It's a blessing just to have people who would want to buy your stuff and to be anticipated. But in the little time I got here, I really can handle it. It's just a small little stepping-stone of where I've got to go."
Michael Jackson's Doctor Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

Conrad MurrayAlmost eight months following the unexpected death of pop icon Michael Jackson, his personal physician -- Dr. Conrad Murray -- has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Los Angeles prosecutors charged Murray on Monday (Feb. 8) saying that he "did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson."

Murray in previous months admitted administering the 50-year-old King of Pop with the powerful sedative propofol to help Jackson sleep, while he prepared for his string of 50 comeback concerts in London. Toxicology reports concluded that Jackson's death had been caused my a deadly mixture of propofol, the sedative lorazepam, while other painkillers and a stimulant were also found in his body. Murray, who was only hired a little over a month before Jackson's June 25 death, faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff said: "We'll make bail, we'll plead not guilty and we'll fight like hell." The disgraced doctor is due in court to hear the charges brought against him later today.

Diddy Recruits Trina for Vodka Campaign

Filed under:

Diddy and Trina

Fresh off his weekend of Super Bowl festivities in Miami, Florida hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is fusing a little bit of the city with his business life, hiring Miami-based rapper Trina for his new Ciroc Vodka campaign. "She's an official Ciroc girl," Diddy said of the new business venture, which will include cross-promotion of her forthcoming album 'Amazin.'

"She's gonna be helping us, we gonna be doing it together. We got a new partnership that we rocking with but most importantly, the record and a video is off the chain," Diddy explained of the singer's new single 'Million Dollar Girl.' "You gonna see us performing the joint live, too. She's gonna have the full-length chinchilla and just be buckey-naked with some stickies on. You know what I'm saying, because the body is thorough. Believe that, she's in the gym!"

No word yet on the full extent of Trina's promotional duties, or if she will appear in Ciroc ads, which Diddy himself usually stars in. The single 'Million Dollar Girl' features both Diddy and Keri Hilson. For her fifth album Trina will team with rappers Ludacris, Nicki Minaj and even collaborate with pop-star Lady Gaga. 'Amazin' hits stores May 4.
Chuck D, KRS-One to Host Museum of Hip-Hop Party

Chuck DNew York City's National Museum of Hip-Hop has announced the launch of its annual Hall of Hip-Hop Awards. The museum, which was founded in 2005 and is located in lower Manhattan, plans to celebrate hip-hop's greats, two of whom -- Public Enemy frontman Chuck D and KRS-One -- will be hosting one of the museum's launch parties.

"We have developed an Induction Committee with enough experience to develop a system that will be world class," said Craig Wilson, president of the National Museum of Hip-Hop. Wilson further explained that the Hall of Hip-Hop Awards will be "a testament to the prominence of the many who helped spawn this phenomenon but have been long since forgotten via contemporary commercial/corporate interests."

Chuck D & KRS will host Hip-Hop Immortal, the launch party for the awards, at New York City's M2 Ultra Lounge on April 6. Included in the festivities will be a silent auction, cocktail reception, and rap/DJ performances, with a special appearance by Grandmaster Flash.

YelaWolf Talks 'Trunk Muzik' and Trailer Parks

Nothing about Alabama native YelaWolf's appearance would lead you to believe that he's one of the nicest up-and-coming MC's in the game. Be that as it may, his recent mixtape 'Trunk Muzik,' proves that the lanky skater with the catfish tattoo, homemade haircut and sick doubletime is more than capable of crafting solid songs with catchy hooks and jawdropping cadence.

We sat down with Wolf in our New York City office to discuss his background; from his Cherokee father whom he never really knew, growing up a hardcore skater in a town full of rednecks, to his recent music video for 'Pop the Trunk' which features his stepfather, "the hardest man alive." YelaWolf's nasal voice and ridiculous flow already have people drawing inevitable comparisons to another white MC.

Having recently provided hooks for Juelz Santana's 'Mixing Up the Medicine' and Slim Thug's 'I Run,' and absolutely murdering his verse on G-Side's 'Who's Hood,' YelaWolf is sure to be that next dude you're checking for.
Shyne Rejected By London Immigration Officials

Belize-born rapper Shyne's immigration woes continue.

The former Bad Boy was recently deported from the United States to his native Belize, after serving eight years in prison for a 2002 shooting that involved Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jennifer Lopez.

After spending four months in Belize, where he lived until he moved to the U.S. at the age of 13, Shyne attempted to fly to London from Cancun, Mexico on February 4, but was turned away at the London airport. Authorities stated he had problems with his travel documents and he was forced to return to Mexico.

Although the specific issue with Shyne's travel documents remains unknown, the rapper was intending to record several tracks for his forthcoming album, the rest of which was recorded in Belize. Several artists have reportedly traveled to Belize record with the rapper, including producer Shawty Redd.

Shyne can be heard on 'All My Life,' a new single from DJ Khaled's 'Victory,' featuring Movado and Akon.
